Apples for Apples?

If you’ve received a cheaper quote, that’s completely fine. Budget matters.

Before you decide, we’re happy to review it with you to make sure you’re genuinely comparing like for like.

Here are the three most common reasons quotes appear cheaper:

VAT Not Included

Some quotes show a price that looks lower but state “plus VAT” in the small print. That’s an instant 20 percent difference.

It’s an Estimate, Not a Fixed Price

An estimate is based on assumptions. If the job takes longer or requires more work, the final cost can increase.

Minimal Scope Pricing

Some installers quote based on perfect conditions. Once the bathroom is removed, additional plumbing, levelling or preparation suddenly becomes “extra”.

By that stage, the customer is mid-project and has little choice but to agree.

How We Approach It

Navigate Your Quotes with Confidence

We structure our quotations to reflect the real scope of work, including what is reasonably expected in a bathroom renovation.

That means allowing for proper preparation, sensible contingencies and professional finishing standards from the outset.

However, complete transparency is important.

There are situations where additional cost can arise:

Unforeseen Conditions

The two most common examples are:

• Floor substrate issues revealed after removal
• Extensive wall preparation or structural repairs not visible beforehand

If something genuinely cannot be identified prior to strip-out, we discuss it clearly and price it transparently.

If it can reasonably be anticipated, it will already be included in your quotation.

Customer-Initiated Changes

Additional items, layout alterations or cosmetic changes requested during the project will be treated as agreed variations.

This ensures fairness for both sides.

A Sensible Expectation

Our aim is always to quote accurately from the beginning.

That said, with any renovation project, it is sensible to allow a contingency of around 5 to 10 percent of the overall project value for unforeseen or requested changes.

This doesn’t mean it will be needed. Many projects complete exactly as quoted.

It simply ensures you are financially prepared in the rare event something unexpected arises.
